Little Brother too intelligent???

One of my favourite groups is being hated on for being decent rappers
How ridiculous is that??

quote from SOHH..

""

With Little Brother's The Minstrel Show hitting stores next week, SOHH.com has heard BET is refusing to air the album's first video, "Lovin' It" because it is "too intelligent for the BET audience."

The video begins with a delivery truck dropping boxes labeled "gangsta," "backpackers," "earthy" and "icy" onto a street. The rest of the clip mostly sees LB and Joe Scudda, who is also featured on the song, performing in front of a capacity crowd. The clip also pokes fun at the Hip-Hop subgenres by depicting overly exaggerated backpacker and gangsta characters in the audience. "Lovin' It" also jokingly features typical scenes with Big Pooh sitting next to champagne-sipping models in the venue's VIP section while LB's entourage pop bottles. The video concludes with a car running through the boxes dropped on the street earlier.

The statement of the video being "too intelligent for the BET audiece" was discussed recently on Columbia University's college radio station, 89.9, on the "Squeeze Radio" show. On the show they said the statement was made verbatim by the program director from BET to one of the Atlantic records label reps. This information was obtainmed directly from LB's 9th Wonder.

SOHH.com contacted several officials at BET, including their vice president Stephen Hill, their program director, and publicist, Michael Llewellen who offered this response.

"It's not true, not in that context. BET reserves the right to show or not to show music videos of any type based on the network's own standards and decision-making processes," Llewellyn told SOHH.com.

When questioned further as to whether the words "too intelligent for the BET audience" was used, Llewellen did not respond. Atlantic Records has refused to comment.

The LB incident doesn't mark the first time BET has allegedly banned underground artists from its video rotation. In December 2004, SOHH.com reported that BET snubbed De La Soul's "Shopping Bags" video and The Beatnuts' "Find Us (In the Back of the Club)" clip featuring Akon.

In a meeting with BET heads, De La reportedly said BET told them they "weren't relevant to the BET audience" while The Beatnuts were told that "BET doesn't break new artists." The Beatnuts had previously garnered heavy rotation for videos like "Off The Books" from 1997's Stone Crazy, "Watch Out Now" from 1999's A Musical Massacre and "No Escapin This" off 2001's Take It or Squeeze It.

The network has also been under fire from the black community for cutting its news coverage to make room for more videos in the past few years. Recently, the community has been frustrated with BET for its failure to cover the Hurricane Katrina's crisis.

Dear Diary!

In the words of Masta Ace- disposable arts:
"Dear diary, dear diary what a day its been,
dear diary it feels just like a dream, woke up too late, not where i should have been......"

Yep definately felt like that today, almost had a major accident, tyre punctured on a curve and the car lost control completely.
After numerous swerves i went over the pavement and landed on the curb.
Praise God for life and preservation,
The car aint too badly damaged either.

I don't know if ya'll have heard or seen.
Most people especially rona bodarkie(i'm not trying to be derogatory against my own or anything) are spending more than we can really afford.
Some stats say that we aint even saving for our retirement, that is real scary ya'll. If all the money we work for is consumed by all that we "own" are we really wealthy. These marketing people seem to be targeting this exact point spend, spend, spend. We need to be careful else we will e poor in a coupla years time. My friend told me that marketing strategies are now focusing on the emerging "black middle class", from whips, jewelry, gadgets, clothes and all it is all targeted at you to spend all you got and all that you dont have, since we are the most economically active. I feel like a pawn, these marketing scavengers have taken advantage of our previous disposition and our current favourable cash-in-the-hand position to strip us of all that we have, of course if you neva had money you gonna want to buy all that you can in order to experience what it it feels like to have. These advertising punks know this very well.

Becareful, dont be taken for a ride, save a little every now and then.

Today I just feel like posting Graphix

This is my definition of eyecandy!

Buckwild

Let Me give you some old school Wrap about what these kids should know today.

""""
Not many crews can claim two great producers. Diggin In The Crates have four fully fledged beatmaking legends in one little eight man click. Three of those four producers have done their fair share of rapping over the years (Lord Finesse is a master in both fields), but the fourth man has made beats, simple and plain, for more than a decade without touching a microphone. Perhaps because of this low profile, Buckwild has never go the kind of props that Diamond D and Showbiz get from the thinking Hiphop press.
In my opinion Buckwild has long been both the most reliable AND the most diverse member of the crew when it comes to knocking out a tune. Anyone listening in the early 90s can tell you what a Diamond D track sounds like or what a typical Lord Finessebeat will do, but can you really tell me OC's classic "Times Up" shares much sonically with Black Rob's "Woah"? Like LL says, Idon'thinkso. And he's still doing it! If there is one thing that unites many (not all) Buck produced tracks it's the space. Rarely does he fill a track up to the brim with layered samples when a fresh loop and hard beat will do the job. It's this economy that unites the above tracks.

Spring in Full Swing

Whuts up world!

Another week it is,
What have we humans allowes this world to come to though?
Digital virtual imaginary soft diaries, its like many people's childhood memories speaking to imaginary people and all.
Less Human interaction, habitual text convos and les speech, what about touch, feel, taste, must be hermit like peops that create these things neh?
It does feel odd writing and not knowing who lands up on your blog, who reads it, who disses it.
I aint complaining though its cool to use, big up geniusez.

NE way,
Last night i chilled out at Cleopatras-Queen of the Nile with with real good friends celebrating the life of a great human being,
It was great its always nice to do good stuff for people, it is one thing that i do enjoy, contributing in making a diffrence in a persons life is really fulfilling.

I also went and checked out an expo about biznisis and all that, the regular BEE magnate rap thats got a whole lot of blak folk stressed out about getting rich or die trying and all that jazz,
all it did is add to the weight of feeling like, dang brutha gotta do somthung to get out of this rut and join in the festivities peops is getting KAching cheddar.
The pile of stuff you get thrown with when you step into work on a monday morning doesnt help ease the feeling either.

But i'm feeling great, excited about what this week holds, God will be doing some awesome stuff for sure, cant wait.
yo,gotta go
cant sit here and type all day now can I?
i atleast have to pretend to be bz ina constructive kinda way.

Thats a picture of Thekza, i will avoid the WWW at all costs because of it brutality, i'm not being cynical, its true.
Anyway,
Today is month end, bank balance being morfed by the mandatory costs of living,
i heard someone say that all people who go to work do so to service the debts they have, i cant agree more "your" money is taken before you can even see it.
Sick world we living in!
i miss my Primary School today all of a sudden, memories of the songs we used to sing at assembly/ line up ,are echoing thru my head, i'm loving it though, i'm even thinking of going there just to spend some time thinking back how far one's come.
